Long before the sweet, frothy mugs we know today, chocolate was sacred and used medicinally, as currency, and even as a treasured part of religious ceremony. Considered a divine gift from the gods, cacao was revered by the ancient Maya of Mesoamerica. This civilization was among the first to cultivate cacao (Theobroma cacao) which literally means “food of the gods”.

Flavour Profile

Mild, Sweet and Floral, with Subtle Notes of Clove and Citrus

Using a stone mill, we combine a fudgey chocolate with spicy cayenne and fragrant cinnamon. The warmth of the spice lingers with the long finish of the chocolate. Mexican cinnamon is milder, sweeter and more delicate, than cassia varieties, and is characterized by soft, fragile quilt which crumble easily.
