My story is deeply rooted in this concept of “home.” I grew up in a family that immigrated from India to Newfoundland, and this unique background taught me early on that food is a powerful bridge between cultures. It can build genuine connections and remind us that “home” means something different for everyone.
This understanding fuels my passion for exploring food stories and traditions from every corner of the globe. To bring the taste of “home” to my customers, I first need to understand the global flavours that mean “home” to them.
Think of my Masala Chai bar. Its malty 35% milk chocolate, infused with richly toasted Indian spices like cardamom, cinnamon, and ginger, evokes the vibrant energy of bustling markets and the warmth of family kitchens. For many, it’s a flavour that feels like home.
Or consider my Bread and Butter bar, where handcrafted sourdough made with Red Fife wheat—Canada’s oldest wheat, with origins in Ukraine—is toasted in brown butter and added to creamy milk chocolate with a hint of Newfoundland Sea Salt. This bar brings a subtle taste of rustic comfort and connects to the rich tapestry of Canadian cultural roots that continue to inspire me.
These are not just flavour combinations. They are stories. I still remember a Filipino customer who was overjoyed to see calamansi featured in one of my bonbons. It reminded her of her heritage, and she called her friend over, excited to share the moment. That kind of authentic connection is what I strive for every day—evoking a sense of nostalgia and belonging through flavours that speak to people’s hearts.
